"She charms me every time she refuses to regret. And she regrets nothing."  —Los Angeles Times"Sunny, uninhibited prose."  —Slate.com"Her prose is...glittery, raw and real."  —Indie-music.com"Should spur enough interest...that...her story can be made into the movie it needs to be."  —The WOW Report"Granted it's gossipy, but it's also a worthwhile document of the blossoming of an innocent California flower-child."  —Star Tribune"Eminently readable, offering all the fun of a trashy read without resorting to sensationalism or mean-spiritedness." —North Bay Bohemian"A must-read for all lovers of great music and men."  —Playgirl

More like the inane ramblings of a prepubescent school girl than a memoir. I was growing bored with it already but when it got to the part when she met Jimmy Page I gave up. As a long time Zeppelin fan I'm quite familiar with the history of the band and the individual members. First, the stories about the conversations between her and Jimmy seemed more like her fantasies than reality, but I can't verify that one way or the other. But when she talks about be on the side of the stage while they played in 1969 and Jimmy wearing the black dragon suit I was done. Jimmy didn't start wearing the dragon suit until 1973. Might be a minor detail but for me it was the last straw for this book. Glad I got it on sale and only paid 1.99. I really wanted to like it but just couldn't finish.

met a rockstar, blew him. met a rockstar, blew him. repeat for 100some-odd pages...

I have read a few books on that time in music history and of groupies. This one is the best. Sweet Miss P, I would like to have been a friend. Anyone wanting an honest rendition of the late 60s and early 70s in Hollywood and beyond you must read this book.

Under the surface flash, I found this to be a sad story. Pamela seems to think she has no value by herself, so she seeks it by blowing famous musicians just before they go back to their wives and/or girlfriends. I just found that depressing. Maybe she was more calculating than I give her credit for, but I wouldn't want my daughter to grow up like that.I came of age only a couple of years after Pamela did. It was exciting enough just to admire bands from afar; it was a memorable time. But she talks way too nicely about way too many scumbags in this memoir. I'm glad she finally bagged a musician, for a while, anyway. She really seems hard to dislike in her airheaded way, and she may really have no regrets, but if she did, would anyone care?

This book reads like a teenager's sexy diary. I found the language to be nearly elementary. The writing style to be poor. I have been unable to finish reading the book because I find it to be rather boring. I fell below any expectation I had for this type of story. My recommendation is to save your money. Dull, predictable and boring to read.

Pamela Des Barres pulls a nothing-held-back look at her life amongst some of the rock greats of the 60's and 70's. Unabashed and unashamed about the sexual side of that life she gives us a personal look backstage in and amongst the easy to access rock stars of the time. Her group of girls GTO's (Girls Together Outrageously) has a moment in the sun but only Pamela was to emerge unscathed and still together. She really is an amazing woman that, despite, the sex, drugs and rock and roll she came out a winner and a very popular winner at that. This is well worth the read.

Such a fun read if you enjoy counterculture history! Perfect for the beach or the bath.

This girl was totally in the right place at the right time, so she was very lucky. It's a bit sad because all she ever wanted was to marry a rock star. Eventually, she did marry a very minor one but all in all, it's kind of depressing that she was so consumed by this desperate need to be close to someone famous. She had no job, really, no career and this was all she did, 24 hours a day--try to figure out how to sleep with this guy or that guy, in the hopes that they would fall in love with and marry her. It's ironic that it's such an old-fashioned notion (marriage) and yet, for all her "progressiveness," in the end, that's all she wanted. Lucky for us, she gives us a window into her groupie life but either she never had really substantial conversations with these men, or she just doesn't share that part. I think that would've been the most interesting part of a book like this. Unfortunately, these days, with so much security, groupies have it much harder than they used to, so Pamela was very lucky to have lived in this era, when rock stars were there for the taking. It's a phenomenon that we'll never see again, sadly.
