Hard to believe he has bought and developed all the real estate he claims, as there are no addressed examples of any of his properties, and only several very casually described examples. First half just fluff, but second half a lot better at describing the philosophy of buying undervalued properties, but still, so much popcorn, empty calories. Manny, to persuade, fill the next book with specific case studies, otherwise, its just chit chat. For the real real estate nourishment, read James Randels "Confessions" book or any by George Bockl.
OK. Look. This book doesn't deserve 1 star. It's more of a 2-3 star book. But these other reviewers are clearly paid shills writing 'puff' pieces. My 1star is an attempt at balance. I'm no BS. Here's an honest review. Frankly, I expected more. I have been investing in real estate for about a decade and own about 20units. So, yes I have some experience. And I'm always looking for real insight into moving to the next level. Since the author owns 100mil in assets, I figured he'd share his knowledge of wealth creation. In my view, he does not. Although this book offers some very basic information on commercial real estate, its nothing that can't be found in 300 other books. If you want a beginner's guide to RE, I suppose this is not bad.But you could do better. I was hoping it was more in the spirit of my favorite RE books, Randel's "Confessions of a Real Estate Entrepreneur". But alas, it is not.
Just finished reading Contrarian Playbook - true to its title, this book gives you a proven layout, or starting point, on real estate investing. Covers all the major classes of real estate in a very straight forward approach. It also gives the reader a good guideline to follow on due diligence for different property classes. Very dense with information on all kinds of commercial and residential real estate. Manny Khoshbin gives away his tips and tricks to finding the best properties for beginners, intermediates, and experts. He really breaks down all the components of real estate into easy-to-understand terms. This book is short, sweet, and information dense. I learned a ton from it, and it included very little to no fluff.
The book isn't informative: the book isn't entertaining. It is rather a boring read. It lacks inspiration and doesn't convey the knowledge necessary or required so that the reader can mimic or imitate the author in the office or out of the office.Yes, it tells his story, but it isn't unique or motivational.
Light on "how to get there from here details". I read a lot of books like this and while he speaks the fundamentals there is a lot more that goes into having a $100MM real estate portfolio. Maybe he didn't want to get people lost in the details or techniques, but that is why I bought it.
Manny doesn't mess around, because he uses real life examples. Also, the language of this book is easy to understand. It is as if manny is having a conversation with you. Loved it!
Its an interesting read on his overall journey, but he does not go detail in strategy of how he came across the cash specificall. Still worth reading if you are curious
