This book is already awash in a flood of positive endorsements by readers. However, the subject of alkalinity is extremely important to me, so I want to add my own endorsement, to this one particular title, among the the host of titles from this author on the subject of alkalinity.I have known about the acid-alkalinity problem for decades. However, I very recently realized I have been "cheating," with acidity, on a massive scale for a long time. So to renew my commitment, I accessed Amazon and ordered three of this author's books on alkalinity. Of these three, this is the one particular book which really spoke to me, in a very powerful way.This book contains a lot of recipes, which I was not interested in. I wanted the pep talk on "transitioning" to an alkaline life style, along with the bevy of novel new insights and information which renewed my faith.REPRESENTATIVE examples of dynamite new information contained in this book:(1). HYDRATION (see, e.g., p. 15). The author's strong and repeated recommendation that, to maintain proper acid-alkaline balance, people should drink 2-3 liters of good quality, filtered water per day. In my extensive prior reading on the alkalinity problem, I do not recall this emphasis on this level of daily hydration. In response to this recommendation, I have already purchased and consumed a number of bottles of ALKALINE water (3 different manufactures) - I intend to continue to do so. Tap water is acid, so switching to bottled alkaline water is a major positive step.(2). ALMOND MILK. In reading this book, I noted that the author REPEATEDLY refers to almond milk, usually as a cooking ingredient. Not knowing anything about almond milk, I went to Wikipedia, and discovered that the formerly niche health food almond milk has only in the past decade exploded on the nutritional market as a NON-DAIRY milk, and rapidly surpassed (in volume sold) soy milk in popularity. The author of this book states (p. 51) that almond milk is alkaline. For me, this was an amazingly useful revelation, of the existence of a significant alkaline food product..(3). QUINOA. I have cooked with quinoa for several decades, and know that quinoa is a nutritionally superior grain. However, I have never discovered a pleasingly tasty way of cooking quinoa. So, I was going to give up on quinoa. In reading this book, I learned that quinoa is this author's favorite grain. Since this author has a high degree of credibility with me, I am going to renew my efforts to find a pleasing way of cooking with quinoa, to produce enjoyable quinoa dishes.This book is disarmingly lucid - a PAGE TURNER, breathlessly zipping right along.Reading this book was, for me, a rewarding, informative and enjoyable REVIEW - LONG OVERDUE.
I have followed Mart through several of her books. Her style is easy to read, and her reasoning is simple to understand. Following her advice and alkalizing makes sense and works. Having lost from 386 to a current 240 lbs., I can testify to its effectiveness. I hope I am now in the home stretch of my weight loss goal of 200 lbs. I am a 77 yo 6 footer, so that would be a good weight for me. I will keep following Marta's sage advice on the way to achieving it.
Great healthy lifestyle book.There was a lot I got out of it in a short space of time reading it.The reference about coffee, sweeteners and the food groupings was a great reminder of some of the thinks you drink or eat without much thought to the cause and effect.The recommendation about not drinking tap water is very good, which will require further investment for enhanced happiness, increased energy and healthy well-being.The chapters I particularly enjoyed were Chapters 3, 4 and 8.I am actually testing out another diet, but it's not one I believe in, or can sustain by making the diet a new lifestyle/habit. I won't mention the author, but the book was 500 pages long.There isn't much I would disagree with, but I would recommend that the author helps the reader understand the application of the 80/20 principle - as it relates to her teachings.This diet and how it is communicated, like: take baby steps before changing your diet is much more sustainable and more likely to be successful to anyone who follows the author's advice.Therefore I can highly recommend reading this ebook if you are curious about the word "alkaline" with "diet."All the 2 star and 1 star reviews are fake.
I did not know a whole lot about the alkaline diet, so I found this book to be very informative, as well as easy to read. I liked that the author included recipes, as I don't think I could have come up with appealing alkaline meals on my own. I plan to embrace different aspects of this diet, such as weaning myself off caffeine and implementing more greens. I liked all the suggestions for caffeine alternatives, since this change in my diet will probably be one of my biggest challenges. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about the diet.
Not bad, full of good advice for eating a more alkaline diet. With GERD, I needed the food lists but that's about it. I'm not going Vegan or raw but per this author, those are best practices. I have read so many books refuting Vegan and raw diets, even Paleo which is what got me into this mess (reflux disease) that I couldn't finish this book with any deep interest. Still, she's passionate about her beliefs!
Glad to have this book! I want to live a healthy lifestyle, and this is the way to go! Tried one of the recipes for breakfast today, "Super Yummy Nutritious Quinoa Sweet Porridge" Was excellent! Looking forward to try more of these recipes! JV
Wonderful recipes! I wish I could say I was following this implicitly, but I'm not- I love her recipes though and she makes things very easy to understand and also uses recipe items that you can purchase at an actual grocery store.
Very informative, love all the recipes. I already juice regularly but I'm excited to try some of the food and smoothie recipes in the book.The alkaline diet makes a lot of sense for good health.
