About the Author
Zac Robinson is the author or co-author of five books and counting, including two books in the MMA IQ series and one in the Sports by the Numbers MMA series. He became an MMA fan in 1993, when during college he and his baseball buddies watched UFC 1. For his day job he is an educator for a Department of Defense school in Germany. Zac is married to Heather and has two kids, Jace and Xin Ai. Â Jacob "Stitch" Duran is the best cutman in the business. For over three decades he's been involved in all aspects of combat sports. He's competed, coached, promoted, and educated others on the intricacies of wrapping hands and fixing cuts. Now he focuses on continuing to improve the profession of being a cutman. Stitch lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife Charlotte, but on most weekends you'll find him at a boxing or UFC event somewhere on the globe.

I bought this book, after i heard how Stitch had been cut by D.W. and the UFC. I wasn't expecting too much from this book, but man was I pleasantly surprised! Duran has seen it all, and came from very humble roots. He is a testament to the American Dream. The "real" American Dream. I'm happy to have given some money to support Stitch. I'm sure there are hundreds of other great people in combat sports whose contribution goes unnoticed by the general public and hardcore fan alike. I always liked Stitch from what ive seen and heard seeing him on countless fight cards. I could not have imagined how extensive his history in combat sports or how impressive his life story would be. Im a stitch fan for life! Shame on the ufc for taking him off their cards just for stating facts. The sponsorship issue is bad for everyone. I also now know the importance of cutmen thanks to this book about the best cutman in the combat sports game!
From his childhood of poverty to his world travels, Stich Duran definitely knows how to tell an interesting story. The best part about this book is that it gets told from such a unique perspective. Yes, there have been MMA books that give you a behind-the-scenes account of the sport, but Duran is unusual in that he shares such an intimate relationship with the fighters.Is it the best book of its type I've ever read? No. But if you enjoy first-hand, cageside accounts of some of the greatest fights in UFC history, you'll definitely feel you got your money's worth from this one.
This was a great book. I couldn't put it down. It is a great rags to ritches story. Stitch is the real life Mickey from Rocky. Being a fan of boxing and mma I was easily able to follow his stories.The only negative thing is if you are not much of a sports fan the stories of boxers and Mma legends are hard to follow. I live in CA so it was great to be able to identify the areas Stitch was at.Stitch has a great sense of humor in his storie. If you love sports or just want to read a good book this is for you. Keep patching them up Stitch.
Any true fan of the UFC will enjoy this book. Stitch Duran is one of the most easily recognizable figures from boxing, UFC, and Pride events. Loved to hear the background behind the man. Includes many stories of his life involving figures in the sport. Must read of true fans.
Great book. Grabs you from the very beginning. It's a really nice look into the behind the scenes aspect of the fight business.
This is a very good read. It's not award winning by any means, but it doesn't claim to be. It does exactly what it set out to do, and that is to tell the story of Duran's long, eventful life up to now.
It's always great to get to know our favorite famous folks a little more than what's out there on the social media. As a fan of every aspect of MMA, including the sometimes overlooked cutmen, I enjoyed getting to know my favorite cutman Stitch just a little bit better.
